This week was super eventful! We had three exciting events: we found out that Eugene is officially a Eugene, not a Eugenie, had our anatomy ultrasound, and he got to go to his first concert!

I wrote another post about it, but we had our gender reveal right at the 19 week mark and found out that we are having a boy! It’s so strange to know that I’m not only growing a baby, but that I am growing my son! I’m not sure why that’s so strange for me – especially given everything we’ve been through to get to this point – but it is mind blowing!

On Tuesday, we had our anatomy ultrasound and took Auntie Emmy and Grammy Ronda with us. The tech was not as intrigued as we were but we eventually wore her down and she started narrating what she was seeing. We were there for about twenty minutes so we got to see a lot – including our son’s beautiful face! (We also confirmed his gender, but I’ll save you – and him! – the pornography!) The tech and the doctor thought everything looked great – more wonderful news for us!

Then on Friday night, Grandpa Hank and Grammy Ronda took us to the Lady Antebellum concert at Blossom Music Center – Baby Boy Brennen’s first concert! He and I did lots of dancing and man – he was moving a lot! We aren’t huge Lady A fans so I wasn’t expecting to love it – just figured it would be a fun night out. Turns out it was great! I was also inspired to put some of their song lyrics on the nursery wall:
“So let your heart sweetheart be your compass when you’re lost
And you should follow it wherever it may go
When it’s all said and done you can walk instead of run
‘Cause no matter what you’ll never be alone…”

It was a pretty crappy week overall, but I was glad to have some pick me ups in baby land. The baby, which is, by the way, the size of a mango this week!
